My back was so achey yesterday, I think towards the end of the working week it gets more sore. I did manage to block some sections of a cardigan I've been knitting, but ended up falling asleep watching anime on my laptop before I could steam it. I slept for 10 and a half hours! I must have needed it. My back feels a lot better today, gonna see how much stuff I can get done today whilst taking it easy as possible.

Stuff to try and do today
phew

Woke up this morning and it felt like it was a Sunday, you can imagine my disappointment when I realised it was, in fact, a Friday.

I've been really into naps lately, which has been hindering my ability to do my hobbies after work. I will go for a snooze at 7pm, wake up at 9:30pm ish, and by that time I need to start getting ready for bed and packing my lunch for tomorrow. Today (so far) I haven't surrendered to the urge to have a little sleepy eepy... instead I tidied the flat, did a load of laundry, did the dishes, packed lunch for tomorrow, and spent some time salvaging resources for Salvaged.nu.

We have a milk frother in the office at work and I've learnt that there is a setting that can be used to make delicious iced coffee. I put a spoonful of instant coffee in the frother, pour in the milk, and set it to the 'snowflake' icon setting. It's great, and I've saved money most likely. Trying to save more as we're hoping to get a large, bound, hardback omnibus of the Queen Beat zines made, and damn is it expensive.

had a very chill day at work today, had a catch up with my boss, shared some banana bread i baked at the weekend with the team, and got some little jobs done. the next few weeks are looking pretty busy (i think i jinxed it by hoping for a quiet few weeks ahead...) so it's nice to appreciate the quieter moments.

back pain was okay today!! listening to my body is a huge help. The doctor said it's nothing serious to worry about, just gotta do some exercises she has given me and stay rested. She did encourage me to go back to the gym as soon as I feel able to Maybe a couple more weeks off just to be on the safe side. I'm using the time I would normally spend at the gym to catch up on other projects that I've been slacking on, like making the next Queen Beat zine, knitting, quilting, etc. Anything that doesn't involve too much movement.

think i'm gonna spend the rest of the evening doing odd tasks i need to complete, wash my hair, knit a few rows, and look at food containers on the ikea website. peace out babies

Past 2 weeks have been eventful. allow me to slowly type everything whilst i wait for my nail polish to dry... !
on weds 7th i was deadlifting at the gym (47.5kg!), when at the top of the lift i suddenly felt a *pop* in my back, and couldn't bend down to re rack my weights or pick up my water bottle or anything! i was basically laid up in bed like a turtle on its back for the next 24 hours. i think it's a pulled muscle, but my back has been quite 'clicky' feeling (you know when you stretch and you crack your back a little? feeling lots of those little cracks and pops.)... maybe it's because i've been more aware of my back these past two weeks but i seem to be noticing them more. I also sometimes feel it in my hips when walking or standing, sometimes down my thigh, and across my shoulders. I'm gonna go to the doctors tomorrow and see what they say, hoping it's just a pulled muscle and the associated aches and pains are to do with the inflammation. it'll also give me peace of mind, everytime i google symptoms i get inundated with horror stories...

i took thursday 8th off work and spent the day watching youtube videos and knitting, staying rested and moving little, but doing gentle stretches. i'm glad i did, as it meant i was able to go home for the weekend to see my family and friends at the weekend i was able to walk about and run for the ice cream man (yup, we're all in our 30s and we ran for the ice cream van ) so i'm feeling thankful for the rest that thursday gave me.

i am missing the gym, but i absolutely want to be on top form before going back. the prospect of having a few weeks off and then having to start from a low weight again is quite exciting! do want to take a few lifting classes first though, want to make sure my form is correct before deadlifting again.

Been brushing away those Sunday scaries with some house music this evening, even though my Sunday scaries are technically on Monday, as my working pattern is Tuesday - Saturday.

I've had a really good week at work, finally finished alphabetising the inventory in question! This is just the first chapter completed of this task though; we still have to locate the contact details of the owners of said inventory, whether that be through our current online system or through historical archives. And then there is the question of what to do with the inventory we haven't been able to identify owners for; or if we can't get in contact with the owners. It's a big way ahead but for now, the drawers containing the inventory are organised and clearly labelled. I'm relieved, and I think I'm gonna have a few days of not looking at that project and come back to it after a 'break'. I have plenty of other things to be getting on with at work anyway.

Reached some new personal records at the gym on Friday; Squatted 40kg and deadlifted 50kg. I am definitely feeling that delayed onset muscle soreness this weekend though...

things i have done today (so far!)
